Celeriac and Potato Mash

This recipe is a wonderful way to introduce celeriac to the whole family. By combining it with a familiar favourite like potatoes, we’ve created a dish that feels both comforting and uniquely special. To ensure everything cooks evenly, cut your potato cubes slightly larger than the celeriac, as the potato softens more quickly. If you’re looking for a lighter or vegan version, the crème fraîche can easily be swapped for milk or your favourite dairy-free alternative.

Ingredients

500g Celeriac peeled and cubed
250g Potatoes, peeled and cubed
25g Butter
75 ml Crème Fraiche
Salt and pepper (to taste)
Chives (optional)

Method

  1. Boil the Vegetables: In a large saucepan of salted water, add the cubed potato and celeriac. Boil until they are completely tender.

  2. Drain and Prep: Drain the water thoroughly. Add the butter, crème fraîche, and seasoning to the pan.

  3. Combine and Smooth: Mash the mixture by hand or use a hand-held electric whisk to whip it until perfectly smooth. Sprinkle with chives before serving.
